On my personal go to list…Reading. A little about some of my favorites…

DeclanreadingI thought it might be of value to share books that I recommend to clients and friends. I’ve found that the best practice for me is to download a sample from ITunes to determine if purchasing the full version of the book “speaks” to me. If I love a book it’s in my house, office AND on my Ipad.

Books that have found themselves in all three places;

“The Untethered Soul” by Michael Singer
…this is a book I like to read bit by bit. In my office we focus on creating change through shifting the relationship with ourselves. We begin with awareness regarding self talk. This book speaks to the idea of self, thoughts and the dialogue in our head. I couldn’t stop talking about this book to anyone who would listen when I found it. (…though I do believe books find us)

“A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson
…this is THE book if I was to choose just one. AMAZING. Marianne Williamson guides us through all aspects of our lives; relationship to self, our life’s “work”, relationship to others, forgiveness, etc, etc…I will NOT loan my personal copy of this book out so that tells you something. 😉

“The Alchemist” by Paul Coehlo
…this novel focuses on finding our purpose, our live’s path through a fable about a young man on a journey searching out a treasure.

“How To Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It” by Patricia Love
…a great tool for building any intimate relationship, understanding one another AND so important to read from the perspective of how can I change…instead of I cannot wait to get home and read this quote to my partner 😉 They really need to hear this!

Other books I love “Nurtureshock” author Bronson, “Lean In” author Sandberg, “Love is Letting Go of Fear” author Jampolsky and “Journey To The Heart” author Beattie…just to name a few.

Books are one of my favorite self soothing tools, a top five on my go to list AND the reason I never feel like I am “waiting”; in line, at the doctor’s office or in the airport…there is no waiting when you’re reading <3 I'd love to hear your favorite book title and how that book has influenced your thoughts; please feel free to leave a comment below.

Our most important message to self…

Practice…

brown how to getAll that we wish to be and accomplish takes practice.  To my mind the most important “practices” are;

LOVE

GRATITUDE

COMPASSION

From these all else flows…

In my most authentic state I am an expression of LOVE, GRATE-FULL to be and able to experience COMPASSION toward all beings.

Stand Up

“Fall down seven times, Stand up eight”… Japanese Proverb

This is one of my favorite quotes and likely one you have heard if you have ever sat downfor a session with me.  A variation of this same quote has been written by many of the great thinkers throughout history and speaks to the idea that success is about trying, and trying again…

In his terrific book “Outliers” Malcolm Gladwell suggests that mastery comes from 10,000+ hours of practicing your craft.

My craft is the joy of working with clients to create their very BEST lives.  I have hit my 10,000 hours and feel like I could log in 10,000 more and still be learning, growing and thriving AND enjoying every minute of it.

I desire to share this work with the world.  To connect with people who need support, to interact with colleagues of like (and not like) minded professions, to have a true home for my blog.  Yet, I dragged my feet for TWO years to return to the internet.  I took up with many designers and went over many, many concepts. None of these ever got off the ground…I got busy, busier…they did too.  I drove my family and friends nuts…”it’s just a word press document Vicki, It can be changed”.  I know, I know. I wanted it to be perfect…

So, I fell down 7+++ and now I am standing up.

There will be tweaks, edits, changes but I’m ready to say “hi…welcome to my space and here’s a little about me and my work”

Thanks for visiting my space.  I hope you will return often.

A million and one thanks to my families and friends who endured my sometimes grumpy mood and my endless edits…it takes a village and I couldn’t be part of more loving community both personally and professionaly.

I love you guys…Vicki
